Hello! I’m Dr Heather

I am a licensed veterinarian. For many years, I have had a successful house call practice focused on acupuncture, herbal therapy, food therapy and other more holistic or alternative practices. Many times during an appointment, I would have clients request that I work on them. I can’t do that, but it got me started thinking about how I could help my clients. This led down a long road of learning which now includes training for Cranio Sacral Therapy, certification as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, and Ordained Ministry. My practice now involves helping dogs, cats and people lead full, healthy lives through body, soul and spirit wellness
Hobby Meets Need
This project started as a way to combine something I love – hand knitting and crocheting – with a way to help people and give out all of the things that I have made. It certainly is still that, but it has grown much larger! Now it is a prayer/faith healing ministry as well. More people are involved, and the money that is donated is used to help fund a healing ministry, it helps replenish yarn supplies so we can keep creating and to help us travel and hand out our lovely hand made items.
Our Mission
Our Mission at Dr Heather’s Hats for Healing is to bring the healing power of love to those who need it most. We all experience fear and lonliness from time to time and the last few years has accentuated and compounded those feelings for many of us. Those who have been isolated from family and friends or who have lost loved ones are especially vulnerable to fear. We know that love will conquer that fear! Our job is to spread that love all over and beat fear. We use hand made items, made with love and donated by our creators, to take our message to those who need to hear it and need a token of unconditional love and human kindness.

Where does my monetary donation go?
The money you donate goes to help us do many things. It helps us ship items to persons in need, we pay to have donaed items shipped to us as well. The money also goes to help us keep up this website, including an internet connection. It helps pay for space for us to work on this project and store donated items. It also goes toward our travel when we take items to hospitals, long-term care facilities and other places where people need a touch of human kindness.
